Children In Need 1998

Terry Wogan and Gaby Roslin , and their friend Pudsey, are back to host this year's fund-raising extravaganza packed with stars paying tribute to the public's efforts forthe BBC's own charity.
Last year, £20.9 million was raised, and throughout the evening there will be news of how the money has been used, plus details of how to support this year's appeal. Kicking off the show, the Spice Girls give the first live TV performance of their new song, Goodbye,
Jim Davidson launches an evening-long edition of Big Break, and Carol Smillie introduces a Changing Rooms special, with Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Linda Barker (pictured above) aiming to transform a room in a day, with the result live, later tonight. Louise Jordan and Rob Curling introduce entertainment from the Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock, featuring characters from BBC1's Lakesiders. Plus reports throughout the evening.
7.30 Hugh Scully hosts a live Antiques Roadshow nationwide link, there's a musical duet from Denise van Outen and Johnny Vaughan , ex-Coronation Street star Matthew Marsden also sings, and Culture Club perform theirclassic, Karma Chameleon.
8.00 DesLynam presents the Radio 2 appeal cheque, music from Boyzone, and Dale Winton hosts a soap quizwith teams from EastEnders and Emmerdale.

10.30 The Changing Rooms team reveal their handiwork live to the home's owners, musicians and singers from 20 locations in the UK attempt the largest ever live rendition ofthe Sinatra classic My Way, plus music from M People and comedy from the cast of Red Dwarf.
11.00 West End star Ruthie Henshall sings Diamonds Are Forever, and it could be Ready Steady Strip time as chefs Ainsley Harriott , Tony Tobin , Antony Worrall Thompson , Brian Turner and James Martin get readyto do the "full monty", but only if enough cash is pledged.
11.40-12.00 South East Live update on the fund-raising in the region, from the Lakeside shopping centre in Thurrock.
12.00 As the early hours arrive, the cast of West Side Story perform classic songs from their London musical, there's a live 50th anniversary celebration of Come Dancing, teen singer Billie sings herChristmas single, and comedian Peter Kaytakes a curious look at children's television.
