Children In Need 2000

Now in its 21st year the annual star-studded fund-raising extravaganza gets under way, as Terry Wogan, Gaby Roslin and Pudsey Bear invite you to join Children in Need 2000. Last year the event raised £18.5 million and throughout the evening there will be news of how the money was spent, plus details of how to support this year's appeal. S Club 7 open proceedings singing their hit Reach, and there's music from Ronan Keating and Melanie C, TV vet Trude Mostue becomes Marilyn Monroe for her rendition of I Wanna Be Loved by You and Naked Chef Jamie Oliver sets off on his quest which will result in someone in the UK having supper cooked for them tonight. 7.30 Paul Ross and Gillian Joseph report on the South East's activities from the old Spitalfields Market in London's East End. Celebrities joining them include John Altman and Nick Bateman and there will be music from Damage.
7.40 There's music from All Saints performing Pure Shores.
8.00 Craig David and Rolf Harris provide the music and A Question of Sport meets A Question of Pop when Dale Winton hosts a contest featuring Sue Barker and Jamie Theakston.
8.30 Some top TV duos including Angela Rippon and Terry Wogan, Vanessa Feltz and Jeremy Spake, correspondents Nicholas Witchell and Jennie Bond and Fiona Bruce and Jeremy Vine re-create some Hollywood dance magic from the movies.
9.00 Texas perform live and in honour of Pudsey's 21st birthday, and for one night only Wendy Craig, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Geoffrey Palmer and Andrew Hall, the cast of the eighties hit comedy Butterflies are reunited for a special episode.
9.30 Martine McCutcheon performs her version of the Donna Summer classic On the Radio and Gaby Roslin and Dr Mark Porter become Sophia Loren and Peter Sellers to recreate the sixties' comedy hit single Goodness Gracious Me.
